Key Job Duties and Responsibilities
Summary: The Junior Integration Specialist role is to design, develop and maintain data exchange interfaces that increase integration between company & community healthcare information technology systems.
General Description: Using industry standard interface protocols (HL7, XML), the Junior Interface/Integration Specialist develops high-volume, real-time or batch, messaging systems for the healthcare community. They provide analysis and design of data models and develop data mapping/translation schemas that integrate separate data sources. They manage the interface development process and provide training and support for production systems. A sense of urgency, the ability to make good decisions, and the prioritization of tasks is necessary.
Performs complex analysis and applications programming. Coordinates user requirements with system specifications. Prepares flow charting. Codes, debugs, and documents programs.

• Assists in the creation of interface design specifications and diagrams for proposed data exchange interfaces.
• Develops interfaces using specified tools and standards.
• Assists in the development of test plans and performs unit testing for all interface projects.
• Maintains interface documentation and specifications with guidance of Interface Developer.
• Assists with the deployment of tested interfaces into a production environment.
• Provides interface maintenance training to application support teams.
• Takes final responsibility for interface issue diagnosis and resolution reported by support teams.
• Contributes to healthcare application integration strategy and implementation in the community.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
• Education: Associates Degree in related field or equivalent experience
• Experience: One year of related experience including-
o Experience with multiple interface development/management tools is preferred
o Course work, certification, or experience in programming and analysis is required.
o Basic understanding of database design and management
o Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of enterprise systems and their interactions
o Good knowledge of healthcare integration/interface data exchange standards such as HL7, XML and ANSI X12.
o Knowledge and general understanding of networking protocols and interface communication procedures
o Proven ability to define and manage projects
o Knowledge of healthcare integration/interface data exchange practices and standards
o Ability to facilitate customer involvement in interface projects
o Excellent attention to detail
